OTHER INFO
Started in January 1985 by Dr. Ivan Misner, Founder and CEO of Business Network Int'l., BNI provides a positive, supportive, and structured environment for men and women to further their business through word-of-mouth marketing.

Networking requires commitment. The most successful chapters of BNI are comprised of participants who are sincerely committed to helping one another through networking. They are a team. As a participant in BNI, you are responsible for complying with the policies and guidelines of the organization. A partial list of the policies of BNI are listed below:

  • Only one person from each profession is permitted to join a chapter of BNI.
  • All participants should represent their primary occupation, not a part-time business.
  • Attendance is critical. If you cannot attend a meeting, you may send a substitute. This will not count as an absence.
  • Participants are required to bring bona-fide referrals and/or visitors to their chapter of BNI.

ANSWERS

  • What is BNI?
BNI is a business and professional networking organization whose primary purpose is to exchange qualified business referrals. BNI provides a structured environment for the development and exchange of quality business referrals.
  • What makes BNI unique?
BNI is unique in that it only accepts one person per profession in each chapter. Hence, once you have joined, none of your competitors can participate in the same chapter. This in effect locks out your competition.
  • What are the benefits to joining BNI?
BNI can increase your business through a structured Word of Mouth networking system. Your fellow members will gain an intimate knowledge of your business through regular weekly meetings and can then become spokesmen for you. Being in BNI is like having up to 40 sales people carrying your cards and referring your business.

"Word-of-Mouth" is the most cost-effective form of advertising possible. BNI provides a structured environment for the development and exchange of quality business referrals for both men and women. If referrals are an important part of your business, then BNI is the organization for you.
  • How do I join BNI?
